This little candid speech was so powerful. You can tell, from the bottom of his heart, he believes in what we’re doing, and what we can accomplish together, and that someday when he’s no longer president - how possible it is that he might have the honor to cast his vote for someone who was listening in that room that night.

Let’s ask ourselves…what exactly is going on here? I mean, I know, it’s a movie, it’s animated, it’s for kids, and SpongeBob lives in a pineapple and wears pants and has bonfires underwater but really, let’s just look at this.

What’s in those bags? What are the bags in? Why would bags of water float in water? How on Earth does that make visual sense to anyone ever in the history of the world! The bags aren’t even taking their natural shape!

The Dark Knight Rises Review

If you haven’t seen the Dark Knight Rises, I recommend you do that.

SPOILER ALERT: Review time!

So. Yeah. That was challenging.

1. The whole french revolution + occupy + league of shadows thing? Didn’t work for me. Seemed way too forced. The League of Shadows doesn’t want to destroy and rebuild the world to promote economic equality. However, I did find the allusions to the Bastille highly amusing, although not necessary except to break Catwoman out.

2. Marion Cotillard’s character. Seriously. She represented everything I hated about this movie. Bane’s humanity, that whole random sex scene at the beginning out of nowhere… Also, totally predictable. I called her being evil from the start. Gordon was also challenging for me as a character, but less so.

3. Not enough people died. Seriously. ALL of the good guys survived. Couldn’t you have killed off at least one? I was rooting for Alfred dying (mostly because Michael Caine would have done that SO well) but Gordon or Batman would have been acceptable, as well.

4. The whole climbing the wall thing—we’ve seen Bruce Wayne overcoming major adversity through fear already in the trilogy. I appreciated the references to the first movie, but it was unnecessary.

However, despite these issues, the movie was, on the whole, enjoyable. Mostly for artistic reasons (cinematography and score were awesome) and the fact that some of the action scenes were legit. From the football field to the beginning of Bruce Wayne’s “getting into shape so I can escape from this pit” was my favorite part of the movie, just because we got a hint of the chaos and fear of the second film (think the boat in Dark Knight). I particularly liked Joseph Gordon Levitt and Anne Hathaway’s performances; I felt that they were good foils to Bane and Marion Cotillard. Tom Hardy wasn’t bad either; my problems with his character were based more in the script than in the acting.

I’d also like to say that my heart goes out to all of those in Aurora.
